Making your Facebook Page profitable is not as difficult as
it may seem. However there are some basic things you must do in order to build
and grow your page consistently. The
first and most important thing in my opinion is…
Post Daily
Although this may sound basic and obvious I am still shocked
at how many people think posting two or three times per week is enough to grow
their Facebook Pages. I recently had a conversation with a gentleman who wanted
me to manage his page for him and he thought two posts per week would
be enough to start getting “Likes” on his page.
I promptly showed him one of my Facebook pages and he was
shocked at the amount of posting I do. I also showed him what happens to pages
that are not posted to regularly. When he saw how little engagement they received,
he quickly changed his mind and fully understood the need to post to his page
frequently.
Posting daily does several things. It keeps your business in
front of your potential customers.
Statistics show that on average your business has to be seen 7 times
before it begins to be retained in people’s minds. Therefore it is important to post often. There
is so much noise on Facebook it is necessary to be consistent in order to stand
out in the crowd.
Don’t Oversell
I am sure you have seen Facebook pages that read like one
long advertisement, and if you are anything like me your eyes glaze over and
you quickly move on from those types of pages. No one wants to be “marketed” too
constantly. The great thing about Facebook is it allows all of us to get up
close and personal with the people we buy from. Your customers don’t want to be
sold to, they want to get to know you, understand you, build a relationship with
you, and pretty soon they start to trust you and once they trust you they are
much more likely to buy from you.
Know Your Demographic
It is important to know who your audience is. If you have a
product that is made for teen-aged girls there is no point marketing to 40 year
old men. So you must know who your demographic is and then gear your
advertising towards those people.
Get to Know Your Customers
It is easy to make the mistake of constantly putting you
products in front of your customers, but as I mentioned earlier consumers want
to know the people they are doing business with so let your customers into your
life. Take your customers behind the scenes of your business. Highlight the abilities and accomplishments of
your staff. Show your product or service
in action and post a limited amount of photos of yourself and your family.
Solve Customers Wants and Needs
Establish yourself as the go to person in your niche and you
will soon find yourself in great demand. Consumers are constantly looking for
businesses to solve whatever issue, challenge or problem they have. So if you
place yourself in the position to solve those problems, your business will be
the one on the tip of everyone’s tongue.
Respond to Messages and Comments
No one likes to be ignored. If you are not responding to the
messages, comments or questions posted by customers, your business will quickly
be labelled as one with poor customer service or one that does not care about
its customers. Facebook has begun to roll out a new initiative in that those
pages that respond quickly to messages are rewarded with the new green “Very
Responsive” icon, letting your customers know that you take customer service
seriously by responding to messages and comments very quickly.
Post What Your Customers Want to See
It is easy to get into the habit of posting what you think
will boost your business. But the easiest way to get people engaging with your
page is to post what they want to see. Facebook offers you Insights on your
page. These insights are invaluable as these stats give you a great deal of information
about the people that visit your page. From these insights you can find out
which types of posts get the most comments, likes and shares.
Following these simple tips will allow you to grow your
Facebook page and your business resulting in greater profits for you.
